Acceptable use & sender guidelines

MailG Mail Merge is a Google Sheets add-on for mail merge through the user’s own Gmail account. It is a productivity tool — not a bulk ESP that sends from MailG servers.

Commercial email is only allowed when recipients have consented (or you have another lawful basis). MailG enforces this in the product.

Recipient consent (required)

Before any campaign can start, MailG requires:

1. Consent column — a sheet column where each row is marked yes / true / 1 / oui (or similar). Only those rows are emailed; others are marked No consent.
2. Send attestation — a required checkbox confirming that every recipient consented to receive commercial email (or that you have another lawful basis), and that you will follow Google’s Email sender guidelines.

Do not import purchased lists, scraped addresses, or prospects who never opted in.

Unsubscribe

Every campaign email includes:

• A visible Unsubscribe link in the message footer
• List-Unsubscribe and List-Unsubscribe-Post (One-Click) headers when delivered via Gmail

Clicks are recorded on a per-sender suppression list. Unsubscribed addresses are skipped on future MailG campaigns from that Google account.

Email sender guidelines

As the sender of record (your Gmail address), you should:

• Authenticate your domain (SPF, DKIM, DMARC) when using a custom From / Workspace domain — see Google’s Email sender guidelines
• Use honest subject lines and identify your organization in the message
• Include a physical mailing address in marketing templates where required by local law (e.g. CAN-SPAM)
• Honor opt-outs promptly (MailG suppresses unsubscribed addresses automatically)
• Stay within Gmail / Workspace daily sending limits and MailG plan quotas
• Prefer warm, consented lists over aggressive cold outreach

Laws that may apply

Depending on your location and audience, you may need to follow CAN-SPAM (US), ePrivacy / GDPR (EU/EEA), CASL (Canada), or other rules. MailG’s consent and unsubscribe controls help you operate responsibly; you remain responsible for your lists and content.
