How to share images from MailG templates today — hyperlinks only, no image embed control.
The MailG editor has no image insert button and no Google Drive media picker. TipTap’s Image extension is not enabled.
What you can do today
Use Insert link in the toolbar:
- Host the image (or file) at a public URL, or share a Drive link (see below).
- Select text (or place the cursor) → Insert link.
- Paste the URL (placeholder
https://example.com) → Apply.
Recipients open the link to view the image or file. The editor does not embed <img> tags for you.
Host an image on Google Drive (recommended)
You cannot attach a file from your computer directly inside the email body. Host it online first — Google Drive works well:
- Go to Google Drive and upload the image.
- Right-click the file → Share → set General access to Anyone with the link.
- Role must be Viewer (not Editor — otherwise anyone with the link could change the file).
- Copy the link.
- In MailG, use Insert link and paste that URL on clear link text (for example “View screenshot”).
Login-walled links fail
If the Drive file stays restricted to your account or organization, recipients will see an access error. Always test with Send me a test email from an account that is not the owner.
Distant / CDN URLs
Any publicly reachable HTTPS image or file URL works the same way via Insert link. Prefer stable hosts (your site, object storage, or a CDN).

- Prefer small files and clear link text (“View screenshot”, “Open PDF”)
- Do not rely on HTML pastes that include
<img>— support varies by client and MailG does not manage embeds - Confirm with Send me a test email
Coming later
A first-class image embed / Drive picker may ship later. Until then, hyperlinks are the supported path.
